MAURA BEAR
[BENÍTEZ ARELLANO]
I’m a graphic designer and illustrator with a background in industrial design. I started learning on my own and have grown thanks to the people I’ve been lucky to collaborate with.
I love learning, blending techniques, and turning stories into visual systems. My work often reflects my love for food, music, and art—and I especially enjoy projects in those areas.

MY FAV PART
Illustrating the universe of the Rigorous Raven, and creating a personality for each scenarioC4R (Community for Rigor) is a free, NIH-funded project based at the University of Pennsylvania that helps scientists learn, practice, and promote scientific rigor. The task was to create the visual system and digital learning platform around their mascot, the Rigorous Raven, highlighting all the feelings that come with practicing science.
My role was to expand the visual world through illustration and graphic assets—refining the character feather by feather and developing themed visuals that gave each activity its own personality. I built the entire illustrated universe in Figma, creating a system that was easy to scale, maintain, and evolve with daily feedback.
Beyond illustration, I worked across digital and print assets, animated loops, production files, and merchandise. We wrapped the project with a robust Figma toolkit to help the team continue building as the brand grows.
